Peccata minuta refers to a trivial or insignificant error that has no greater significance.
This stamp reminds us of the duality we often experience, where we are too hard on ourselves and blame ourselves excessively. Peccata Minuta reminds us that we should judge ourselves with perspective and clarity.
The lamb, the main symbol of the piece, represents guilt and can be found on this stamp. It is inspired by Francisco de Zurbarán's work 'Agnus Dei', which is now on display in the Prado Museum. We also see rosemary, which was used in ancient times for purification and to relieve pain in medicine. It is also a main ingredient in Mediterranean cuisine.
This stamp is a reminder that most of the things we carry on our backs are just Peccata Minuta, or 'minor sins'.
